chapter 1

Harry walked into the Burrow and the noise that greeted him was unbearable. The screams could shatter glass. Harry looked around at all the surprised faces and smiled. Unfortunately no one smiled back at him. The room was filled with balloons of all different shapes and sizes, streamers hung from the ceiling and there was presents in the centre of the room. Harry could smell cake and candles from what might have been a birthday cake. There was wrapping paper next to the gifts and Harry could see it had teddies on. There was also a pile of unwrapped gifts, there was a mini broom, bike, clothes and dolls. Anyone would have guessed that this was a birthday party.

Harry Potter had gone missing three years ago, without saying goodbye or leaving a letter. The Weasley's were frantic and sent out search parties. Everyone was looking for the Boy-Who-Lived but he was never found. Soon after her disappeared the Weasley's began to loose hope, something that Harry never thought that the Weasley's could do. No one heard from Harry over the years and the wizarding world tried to forget their hero. Although a special redheaded someone could never forget him no matter how much she tried. Eventually even she gave up hope, passed him on for dead like the rest of her family. They believed he was dead and not coming back.

Harry had been wandering around the town that morning until he finally decided to go to the Burrow. He owed the Weasley's more then just to leave without saying goodbye. Harry had walked into the room on April the 5th. A Saturday when he was sure that everyone would be home. He knew that Bill, Fleur and their daughter Annie would come over as would Charlie, Fred and George. Harry hadn’t noticed that music had been playing when he had walked in. He felt slightly embarrassed and looked around the room. Everyone was there, including Ginny. The music suddenly stopped and the party came to a holt.

Great, just what I wanted to make a good impression I gate crash a party. Harry thought to himself.

"Is this a bad time?"

Harry was still standing at the door another two minutes later. No one seemed to register that he was there or that he hadn't any luggage or that he looked as if to be hurt. On his arm was a small cut, like he had tripped up, he also had a cut above his eyebrow with blood dripping down his face. Harry didn't need to look in the mirror to know that his appearance was startling. Then Harry noticed a little girl sitting in the middle of everyone that he hadn’t met before although it had been three years and the child looked to be about that age. She had long red hair and bright green eyes. It must have been her party he interrupted. Harry began feeling guilty.

`Harry, is it really you? WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?"

Mrs Weasley yelled at him across the room.
Harry backed away before speaking.

" Well.... I, er, went to fight Voldemort"

Mrs. Weasley looked sceptical along with the other Weasley's.

"So if you were of fighting You-Know-Who. How come we didn't hear about it in the papers, answer us that?"

Harry shrugged. He had no idea what to say.

"I wanted to keep it a secret?"

Mrs. Weasley stormed into the kitchen closely followed by Mr Weasley. It was obvious that they weren't happy that Harry had turned up out of the blue when they thought he was dead.

Harry looked to everyone else in the room. He knew he had been asking to much for them to forgive him after all this time and not contacting them.

Ron strode over to him before whacking him on the head. He just missed Harry cut on his forehead which was still sore. Harry rubbed his head where Ron had hit him and could feel a bump forming.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU TAKE US WITH YOU?"

"I didn't want to guys to get hurt because of me"

Ron stormed into the kitchen and out into the back yard, Hermione, who had a small bulge coming from her stomach, sighed at Harry, slapped him before talking, trying not to burst out in tears. It was clear that she was hurt that he had not taken them with him, but she didn't understand, thought Harry sadly.

"You said you would take us with you. You lied. You left us without a single word!!"

She ran of the room to find Ron. Harry rubbed his right cheek that had now been slapped twice and guessed that there was a red mark.

"It was to save the world! You two finally got together then? ok I'll.... talk to you later."

He yelled after them. Great, they weren't going to forgive him easily either, Harry thought as Hermione snapped the door.

Then he looked to the little girl who's shoulders were shaking. She seemed to be about to cry. Harry realised that his appearance would scare the little girl so he quickly cleaned him self up and healed his wounds before putting his wand away. He felt really bad for ruining her party.

Bill looked at him before going up stairs with Fleur and their daughter Annie ,Harry hated to see the disappointment in his eyes. Annie remembered him, Harry could tell from her eyes but after everyone telling her that he was dead and now he's back that must be confusing for a six year old.

Charlie got up and went into the kitchen to see his mum as did Fred and George. Harry was left standing in the lounge with Ginny and the little girl.

"Harry, this is Lily, my daughter."

Harry nodded at Ginny who was giving him a look that told him everything he needed to know. She had another man.

"It’s her third birthday today."

Harry nodded again before sitting next to her but as soon as he sat down she stood up.

She picked Lily up who seemed to be close to tears.

"Come one Lil, bed time."

"But Mummy, it’s my birthday, can’t I go to bed late?"

"No, I can tell your tired, come on."

"But I'm not."

Lily said, fighting back a yawn. Ginny nodded and picked her up, carrying her into her bedroom upstairs.

Harry was left alone in the lounge to think.
