No Longer the Boy Who Lived

Chapter 1: News

Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, opened the door to his bedroom, although he was known no longer as the Boy Who Lived. He was married now, to Ginny Weasley, or Ginny Potter, actually. He had eleven children, eleven, wow, big number when you think about it, but he loved it. He smiled at his sleeping wife, and was not surprised she had fallen asleep; it was, after all, past midnight. He had been coming home late a lot, since becoming Minister of Magic five weeks, ago. He crawled into bed beside his wife and kissed her gently on the lips, her eyes fluttered open.

“Harry,” she said sleepily.

“I’m sorry, I’m home so late. Go back to sleep.”

“No, I have to tell you something.” When she said this she sat up.

“What?” he asked.

“Well, I know that you have a lot going on, since becoming Minister, but we can’t help this,” she said cautiously.

“We can’t help what?” Harry questioned. At this comment Ginny sighed and took a deep breath.

“Harry, get ready for number twelve.” Ginny said and looked up. The thought processed and Harry understood what she meant.

“You mean you’re pregnant?” she nodded and he smiled. ”Oh…Ginny, we are going to have a very full house.” He couldn’t help but grinning as he said this.

“You’re okay with this?” she asked.

“Of course I am. I love having all these kids, and what’s one more, it will make our number perfect, an even dozen. We can’t really do anything about it anyway.” Harry smiled and leaned over to kiss Ginny again, and then a thought occurred to him. “How far along are you?” he asked wondering if it had been the night he was elected Minister.

“Five weeks.” she answered and Harry knew it had been that night.

“When do you want to tell everyone?” he asked, although he already knew the answer.

“Christmas, its only two weeks away. That way all the kids will be back from Hogwarts.” she said. Their five oldest children were at Hogwarts, but would be coming home for Christmas break.

“Okay, sounds good to me. Ginny, I’m so excited. When did you find out?” he questioned.

“Well, I suspected last week, but I didn’t know until this morning. I had a craving for a peanut butter and pickle sandwich, just like with James, Emma, and Anna. So, I went to the mediwitch, and she confirmed it. I’m pregnant.” she told him.

“Again, okay, our new Potter needs to get his or her sleep, and so do the mummy and daddy. I love you, Ginny.” he told her.

“I love you, too, Harry. So, in two weeks we’ll tell everyone the twelfth Potter is on his or her way?”

“That’s the plan, night.” He leaned in to kiss her, but she stopped him, took his hand and put it on her stomach. Harry smiled. “That kid has a good kick.” he said and kept his hand on her stomach.

“Just another Potter. Another future seeker or some kind of quidditch player.” she said and kissed him. “Good night, Harry.”

“Night, Ginny.” He kissed her once more and smiled as he felt another kick from his twelfth child.

His life had changed so much since his first son, James, had been born. He had gone from being the Boy Who Lived, to The Chosen One, to finally defeating Voldemort, to getting married to Ginny, to becoming a father. And after all of this, he was elected Minister of Magic five weeks, ago. Harry Potter had become accustomed to chaos.

He had to be able to handle anything, from fighting siblings, to keeping up with best friends, to finding time with his children and wife, to keeping the giants and dragons hidden, and to not let the biggest secret out to the muggles, that there were really witches and wizards and trolls and goblins and everything else that had to do with the wizarding world. There wasn’t only chaos at work, home was just as much, or maybe more, chaotic, what with six children at home and eleven home during the holidays and now there were going to be twelve children all together. But, you know what, Harry loved it, he really did and Ginny did, too.

The next morning, Harry was awakened by the sounds of someone being sick in the bathroom. He got up and walked into the bathroom to find Ginny brushing her teeth. He walked behind her, wrapped his arms around her, put his hands on her stomach, and gently kissed her cheek.

“You okay?” he asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Just normal morning sickness.” she replied.

“How’s the new Potter?”

“Making Mummy miserable.” she said irritably.

“Do you want me to have Dobby make you something?” he asked referring to their houself.

“Please, anything that will make me feel better.” She turned around and put her hands around Harry’s neck.

“I can do that. After all, I did do this to you.” he said with a smile.

“Yes, you did, and thank you for doing so.”

“No problem, anytime.” he said knowing she would know what he meant.

“Is it a date?” she asked.

‘It’s a date.” he confirmed. “Now let me go downstairs, to the kitchen and get Dobby to make you something to help you feel better.” He kissed her and left the room.

As he walked downstairs, he thought they could use another room or two on the house. Their house was an old but new Victorian. After James was born and Ginny had found out she was pregnant again, with twins, Harry decided they needed a new house. He and his best friend, Ron Weasley, Ginny’s older brother, had gone house hunting and had found a wonderful, old house way out in the country. The problem was, it was only half standing, Harry bought it, much to the displeasure of Ron, and started rebuilding it, with magic, of course.

They finally ended up with a nice, big house, with a huge backyard, that contained ponds, acres of green grass for the children to run on, many huge trees, one with a tree house that the kids absolutely loved, gardens of every shape and size, that the girls loved to pick flowers in, and one of Harry’s favorite things in the world, a full size Quidditch field. They needed all this room, what with just their eleven children, but also for all the cousins and aunts and uncles and grandparents that visited so often.

This was also the best place to hold the annual Potter, Lupin, and Weasley party at the end of every year at Hogwarts. The PLW party, as they liked to call it, featured a day of just having fun and visiting family, every child in the whole clan couldn’t wait for the party. Not only did the children have fun, but the adults enjoyed every minute of it, too. There were sprinklers that the kids ran through to cool off, little wading pools, for the younger children, games of croquet all day long, the infamous quidditch game that happened every year, endless amounts of hotdogs, hamburgers, steak, and every other kind of meat imaginable, tables upon tables of salads, vegetables, dishes that everyone made to feed the hungry children, deserts that were to die for, always put under a child protection spell, and cases and cases of butterbeer. This was the main event of the year for the family and was always planned ahead of time, so that everyone could make it.

Harry smiled as he entered the kitchen, he couldn’t wait for that party, he looked around and found Dobby starting breakfast. He smiled again, as he wondered where the other two houselfs, Katty and Binky, were.

“Morning, Dobby,” he said to the elf.

“Good morning, sir,” Dobby said as he turned from the stove.

“Hey, Dobby, can you make something for Ginny?” Harry asked.

“What’s the matter with Miss Ginny, sir?” Dobby questioned.

"Well, you can’t tell anyone, because we’re waiting until Christmas to tell them.” Harry warned him.

Dobby won't sir, I promise," the elf promised.

“Okay, well, Ginny’s pregnant and she’s having some morning sickness. She just wants something to make her feel better," Harry told him.

"Harry Potter, sir, congratulations! I'll get working right away. And tell Miss Ginny congratulations, too," Dobby praised. He had never stopped calling Harry Harry Potter or sir all the time.
“I will, Dobby. I’ll be back after I get dressed and wake the kids.”

“Okay, Harry Potter.” Dobby said, as Harry left the room.

Harry walked back up the flight of stairs and entered his and Ginny’s bedroom; he walked in to see Ginny getting dressed. She muttered something as he walked in.

“What did you say?” he asked her.

“Oh, nothing, Harry, I’m already starting to show.” She said referring to her stomach. Harry walked over to hug her, it was true, her stomach was already sticking out a little. He pulled her to him and kissed her.

"You know what; I think you’re even more beautiful when you’re pregnant.” he said gently.

“You’re just trying to make me feel like I’m not going to be huge. And I love that, but I am going to be huge. There’s nothing anyone can do about it, that’s part of having a baby. Which is the no fun part, but there are a couple of those but this is my least favorite part about it.” she said angrily.

“I know you don’t like that part, but every time you’re huge, we get another miracle and sometimes we even get two.” he said, but then he realized something, she didn’t usually start showing until the third month, and she was only in her second month. This had only happened twice and each time they had had twins. “Ginny, you’re not having twins again, are you?” he asked anxiously.

“The mediwitch didn’t say I was.”

“Okay, if you’re sure.”

“Well, I guess I am.” she said. “At least I don’t think I’m having twins.” she added a little more to herself.

“It’s fine if you are. Oh yeah, Dobby said he would make something for you.” he told her.

“Good, but you would think I’d be used to this by now.” she said with a sigh. Harry just smiled and kissed her again.

“You’d think, oh and Dobby says congratulations. Now do you want me to wake up the kids this morning?” he asked.

“Please, and Harry.” she said as he turned to leave. He turned back.

“Yeah?”

“I love you.” she said and he came over to kiss her again.

“I love you, too, Ginny.” He finally left the room after that, smiling as he went.
